¡Hola! I am Sra. Adams, the third grade teacher. I am excited to continue my teaching career within the wonderful and unique community of ISLA. I expect this to be a great year of learning, for myself, students, and families, as we explore immersion education, the IB program and many exciting topics together.

Program of Inquiry

The following are the six Units of Inquiry for this year:
  1. Community  - Central Idea: Communities are organized to meet the needs of its members.
  2. Solar Systems - Central Idea: The solar system consists of various components and interconnects with life on Earth.
  3. Ancient Civilizations - Central Idea: Civilizations change over time and their histories and artifacts reveal various perspectives.
  4. Folklore - Central Idea: Folklore reflects cultural beliefs and values.
  5. Sound - Unit under construction...
  6. Structures of Life - Central Idea: Organisms have structures and characteristics that allow them to grow, survive and adapt to their surroundings.

Daily Schedule

9:00 - 9:30 Morning Meeting

9:30 – 10: 05 Math

10:10 – 10:50 Specialist (Monday/Wednesday: Music, Tuesday/Thursday: PE, Friday: Movement

10:50 - 11:15 Math

11:15-12:00 English

12:00-12:20 Recess

12:25-12:50 Lunch

12:45-1:00 Quiet Time/Read Aloud

1:00-2:15 Language Arts (Daily 5)

2:15–3:00 Social Studies/Science

3:00-3:30 Homework/Dismissal


*Library: Wednesdays 2:50-3:10
*Art: Every other Wednesday 12:45-1:45


Homework Schedule

Listed below is our general homework schedule, though there will also be occasional writing, science or social studies assignments. Please keep Language Arts Packets until the due date, so students can practice spelling words.

Mondays:

1)    Math worksheet (due next day)

2)    Read for 20 minutes/book log

Tuesdays:

1)    Math Facts/Cursive Workbook (due next day)

2)    Finish Language Arts Packet (due next day)
3)    Read for 20 minutes/book log

Wednesdays:

1)    Math worksheet (due next day)

2)    Read for 20 minutes/book log

Thursdays:

1)    New Language Arts Packet - due next *Wednesday, test day

2)    Read for 20 minutes/book log (due Friday)

Fridays:

1)    Math worksheet (due Monday)

2)    Read for 20 minutes/book log
