ISLA EXRACURRICULARS!

 

We are so excited to offer a wide array of classes for this second session of extracurriculars!

 

Session #2 – Jan. 23rd – March 5th

3:45 pm – 4:45 pm

6 week session

No Classes the week of February 20th – 24th (President’s Day Break)

 

«  We are accepting registrations on a first come, first serve basis.

«  Deadline for registration is January 13th.

«  Due to our growing enrollment, we will not accept any late registrations.

«  Registration forms will be sent home with the student if a class is full.


Mondays - Traditional Cumbia Drum and Gaita Ensemble
Thanks to a generous grant from the ISLA PTO, Señor Gonzalez was able to bring back an entire set of beautiful, hand crafted traditional percussion and wind instruments, including the tambora, llamador, alegre, maracas, gaucho and gaitas. They will explore the rhythms of cumbia, porro, meringue and bullerengue.
Ø Grades 3rd – 6th ONLY                 (Limit 7 students)
 Mondays – Club de Mate (Math Club)
Sr. Saggia and Sr. Munoz will lead a Math Club this spring! Come enjoy practicing and getting better in math skills. The club will have computer based activities and problem solving exercises. It will support the math curriculum for each grade level.
Ø Grades 2nd – 6th ONLY                  (Limit 15 students)
 Tuesdays – Manualidad del Mundo (Arts and Crafts from Around the World)
Join Srta. Flor and Srta. Helena for arts and crafts from around the world.  We will encourage children’s creativity and open-mindness by working with different materials, textures and techniques from a variety of countries. Children will be able to experience the culture through the arts.
Ø Grades 1st – 3rd ONLY                   (Limit 20 students)
 Wednesdays – Guitarra – Level 1 (Guitar for Beginners)      FULL
Ø Grades 2nd – 6th ONLY                  (Limit 10 students)
 Thursday’s – Mundo Deportivo - Sports Sampler
Join Sr. Ruiz for a fun and active class with a variety of different sports. Play hockey, basketball and other active games in this class. This is a great class to expel some energy during the cold months.
Ø Grades Kinder – 3rd ONLY             (Limit 20 students)
   Thursdays – Guitarra – Level 2 (Guitar for Intermediates)
Join Señor Gonzalez to continue working on your acoustic guitar technique in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. You will continue to learn how to read and play a variety of songs and rhythms from beautiful classical pieces to exciting rock tunes. Students must supply their own acoustic guitar.  Students must have taken guitar last session or have experience playing the guitar to join this class.
