MICHAEL VALLEY Specific Experience Michael Valley received his MD degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine after getting his undergraduate degree in physics with a minor in music from Rollins College, Winter Park, Florida. Michael has studied the Spanish language as an undergraduate and when in Medical School also volunteered time in Tijuana, Mexico teaching the English language to Mexican children. Michael has practiced as an Obstetrician/Gynecologist both in a private practice and the academic setting. He served on the faculty at the Universities of Oklahoma and Florida. He was recognized with a teaching reward for teaching Medical Students. Michael now specializes in Urogynecology and was recently recognized for excellence in the care of women with urologic problems by his peers – reported in the Minnesota Monthly magazine. He serves as a consultant at Park Nicollet Clinic where he has practiced since 1998. In the clinic and Methodist Hospital he has served on various committees and in leadership roles.
Broad Skills Dr. Valley enjoys writing – having published a number of articles. He has made numerous presentations throughout his medical career. He has served as a leader for committees in his Hospital and Clinic, facilitating dialogue in these settings, noted for his great attention to detail and efficiency.
Commitment/Member Role Michael’s family includes twins who enter Kindergarten in 2007 at ISLA. His children attended a Spanish Immersion preschool and he believes strongly in language immersion as a fundamental part of education. Michael is committed to serving on the Board of Directors and expects to use his experience and skills to further the mission of ISLA and make ISLA the best school possible.
