Call for School Board Committee Members…

The ISLA Board of Directors has several committees for which it is soliciting volunteers with expertise and interest.  If you are interested in serving on any of the following committees, please submit a letter of interest to School Board Chair, Melody Brombacher at brombacher@comcast.net by September 15th.  Any other questions can also be directed to Melody at 763-595-7346.

Governance Committee:  This committee is responsible for several duties including making sure ISLA’s Bylaws are followed, particularly as they relate to the election of Directors and officers and the filling of Board and committee vacancies.  This committee must periodically assess the Bylaws themselves and make recommendations when changes are needed.

Finance Committee:  This committee is responsible for analyzing and reviewing financial matters for the school, including the budget and funding resources.

Personnel Committee:  This committee is charged with discussing issues related to hiring and retaining ISLA personnel and establishing personnel policies.

Facility Committee:  This committee will be responsible for considering facility issues both with regard to the current school site and more permanent facilities.  This committee will be involved in reviewing future leases.

Communication Committee:  This committee will help facilitate communications between ISLA and parents, students, and the community.  This committee may play a role in drafting and/or reviewing communications, coming up with ideas on how to best communicate with students, parents, and the community, and providing feedback and consultation regarding the school website.

Strategic Planning Committee:  This committee will help formulate long-range and strategic planning for ISLA.

Because ISLA is in its first year, the work of the committees as described above may be changing as the school operates, needs are assessed, and issues arise.  The time commitment for each of the above is therefore also a bit uncertain, but interested individuals should assume that any of the committees will require at least five hours per month.  The ISLA School Board looks forward to your involvement!
